The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has released a Public Notice seeking comment on GCI Communication Corp.’s (GCI) Petition for Clarification and Reconsideration of the Alaska Connect Fund Report Order.  GCI has requested that the FCC clarify the Alaska Connect Fund’s mobile requirements and that fund support will continue when there are mergers among, or assignments of customers or assets by, fund-supported providers. GCI is seeking reconsideration of the fund’s eligibility standards. Specifically, GCI argues that eliminating untestable hexes from support eligibility is arbitrary and capricious and that areas with unsubsidized 4G service should be eligible for support. Oppositions and comments are due 15 days after the Public Notice is published in the Federal Register, which has yet to occur.  Replies to oppositions and reply comments will be due ten days after the opposition and comment due date ends.
