The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has granted a limited waiver request and request for further extension of time filed by Pine Cellular Phones, Inc. (Pine Cellular). Pine Cellular made these requests in regard to its Tribal lands bidding credit construction requirement to deploy service with its 600 MHz license to the Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma communities in Eastern Oklahoma.
Given that Pine Cellular efforts have been negatively impacted by the semiconductor shortage and the supply chain rules requiring it to replace its existing Huawei network, the FCC has determined that Pine Cellular has no reasonable alternatives to meet its construction requirement and thus has extended its construction deadline to January 9, 2024.
