The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (WTB) has announced a temporary freeze, effective January 17, 2025, on the acceptance and processing of new applications to conduct Part 22 general aviation air-ground service operations in the 450 MHz band.  Contemporaneously, the Commission has also proposed changes to its spectrum allocations and Part 22 rules to allow for Uncrewed Aircraft Systems Control and Non-Payload Communications (UAS CNPC) operations in the 450 MHz band.  The purpose of the filing freeze is to maintain the existing licensing landscape in the 450 MHz band while the Commission considers potential rule changes.
