The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Wireline Competition Bureau has released a Public Notice announcing the launch of the National Lifeline Eligibility Verifier (National Verifier) for new enrollments in Indiana, Kentucky, and Michigan. Starting June 11, 2019, Eligible Telecommunications Carriers (ETCs) will be required to use the system to make eligibility determinations for all consumers applying for Lifeline services and stop use of legacy processes to determine eligibility. Consumers will also be able to use the National Verifier to check their eligibility to receive Lifeline services at CheckLifeline.org.

After June 11, 2019, the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) will continue to verify subscribers’ eligibility for Lifeline services and annual recertification will be conducted through the National Verifier. To ensure that ETCs continue to be supported during the transition to the National Verifier, USAC will be contacting ETCs in the relevant states to provide details regarding additional training opportunities. More information and materials can be found on the USAC website.
