The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has issued a Public Notice seeking comment on the requirements for the Affordable Connectivity Program, the longer term replacement of the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program. President Biden recently signed the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act which modified and extended the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program, now referred to as the Affordable Connectivity Program. The Bureau noted that December 31, 2021 will be the effective date of the ACP and the date the EBB Program ceases. There will be a 60-day transition period for qualified households receiving EBB Program funds beginning on December 31, 2021. The Bureau will provide additional guidance concerning the transition period, the program’s requirements, and other guidance necessary for enrollment in the program.
Comments are due December 8 and replies are due December 28.
