Senators Mike Lee (R-UT) and Ed Markey (D-MA) have introduced into Congress S.3617, officially titled the Government Spectrum Valuation Act. According to a press release issued by Sen. Lee, the bill would require the annual coordination of the FCC, NTIA, and OMB to determine the value of spectrum assigned or allocated to each federal agency. Additionally, it would require each federal agency to report the value of their assigned spectrum to the President’s budget and within each agency’s financial statements. The legislation was referred to the Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for further deliberation.
