The Federal Communications Commission’s Enforcement Bureau has issued a letter announcing Q Link Wireless’s notice of conviction for conspiring to commit: (1) wire fraud, (2) theft of government funds, and (3) defrauding the United States. These crimes were committed in connection with fraudulent claims in the FCC’s Lifeline program. Q Link was found to be submitting false and fraudulent claims to the Lifeline program for its customers who were not using their cellphones in accordance with the FCC’s usage rules. Q Link is thus barred from participating in the Lifeline program as well as any other federal universal service support funding mechanism.
