The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) has waived, for 2020, the requirement that Emergency Alert System (EAS) participants must file identifying information in the EAS Test Reporting Systems (ETRS), which the Commission uses to analyze its annual nationwide EAS test. PSHSB decided to waive this annual requirement for this year due to the difficulties caused by COVID-19 and the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) decision to not conduct a nationwide test of EAS in 2020.
