The Federal Communications Commission’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau has announced the availability of the FCC’s Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Text-to-911 Readiness and Certification Registry (Registry) listing PSAPs that are ready to receive text-to-911 messages and the date of their readiness. The Registry may be used by PSAPs to trigger the six month “shot clock” for Commercial Mobile Radio Service providers and other providers of interconnected text messaging services to provide text-to-911 service. The Registry can be found at http://www.fcc.gov/encyclopedia/psap-text-911-readiness-and-certification.
