Alaska Communications has filed a Petition for Reconsideration requesting that the Federal Commissions Commission (FCC) reconsider one aspect of its recent Order establishing voice and broadband service obligations for Alaska Communications, the sole price cap carrier operating in Alaska. Alaska Communications has elected to receive about $19.6 million in Connect America Fund Phase II “frozen support” in lieu of model-based support, and has asked the FCC to reconsider the definition of “high cost” in an order that adopted what it called “tailored” service obligations for the Anchorage-based service provider. Oppositions to the petition must be filed within 15 days of the date of publication in the Federal Register of the FCC’s Public Notice announcing the petition.  Federal Register publication has not yet occurred. Replies to an opposition must be filed within 10 days after the time for filing oppositions has expired.
