The National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) and the U.S. Census Bureau (Agencies) have announced the Local Estimates of Internet Adoption (Project LEIA). The project aims at improving the Agencies’ understanding of the digital divide at the local level. The Agencies have also released an experimental, single-year estimate of household wired Internet adoption for every county in the U.S. Furthermore, NTIA has launched a Request for Comment, asking for comments and recommendations on how to use and improve the model developed for Project LEIA. Comments are due October 15.
