House Energy and Commerce Committee Chairman Fred Upton (R-Michigan) and Communications and Technology Subcommittee Chairman Greg Walden (R-Oregon) have requested comments on a white paper entitled Modernizing the Communications Act. The white paper focuses on broad thematic concepts for updating the Communications Act of 1934, and is the first in a series that the Committee will release as it undertakes this multi-year effort. The Chairmen announced this project (entitled #CommActUpdate) in December 2013 via Google Hangout. The Committee will hold its first hearing related to the #CommActUpdate on January 15, 2014. Comments on the white paper’s five broad questions are due January 31, 2014.
