The FCC is touting the authorization of the first disbursements of Connect America Fund (CAF) Phase II support won in last year’s Auction 903, where bidders won $1.488 billion of 10-year support to bring broadband to over 700,000 locations in 45 states. This initial disbursement provides over $111 million to 17 CAF-II recipients and 37,148 unserved rural homes and businesses in 12 states. Recipients have three years to build out to 40% of homes and businesses with an additional 20% coverage in each subsequent year until buildout is complete by the end of year six.
