The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) has adopted an Order waiving the gift rules applicable to the Rural Health Care (RHC) and E-Rate programs in light of the increased connectivity needs during this COVID-19 pandemic. In waiving the gift rules, the Commission hopes to assist rural health care providers, schools and libraries that have been affected by COVID-19 with improved broadband connections and equipment. The gift rules will be waived through September 30, 2020. The Commission will continue to monitor the situation to determine if additional waivers are necessary.
