The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) has requested comment on details relating to the implementation of the FCC’s cybersecurity labeling program for consumer wireless Internet of Things products (IoT Program).  The IoT Program establishes a voluntary product labeling system designed to provide clear and reliable cybersecurity information to consumers about everyday products that connect to the internet.  The program will be overseen by the FCC in cooperation with qualified third-party administrators that have not yet been selected.  At the FCC’s direction, PHSB and the Office of Managing Director now seek comment on matters affecting the efficient and timely launch of the program.

Issues identified for comment include the criteria and processes for selecting and overseeing program administrators, the processes for receiving and responding to complaints, and confidentiality and security requirements, among other things. Comments will be due 30 days after Federal Register publication and reply comments will be due 45 days after Federal Register publication.
