The Federal Communications Commission’s Wireless Bureau has released a public notice seeking comment on proposed drive test parameters and a drive test model for Alaska Plan mobile providers.  The Alaska Plan addresses the provision of broadband, and fixed and mobile voice service to high-cost areas in Alaska by participating providers.  Participating mobile providers must meet coverage milestones using a “statistically significant number of tests,” which are verified by means other than in automobiles on roads, due to Alaska’s unique terrain and lack of road networks in certain areas.  The FCC seeks comment on testing and collection data methodology.  Comments are due 14 days after publication of the public notice in the Federal Register.
