The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has released a Public Notice announcing that it will retain the indefinite STIR/SHAKEN implementation extensions for small voice service providers that originate calls via satellite using North American Numbering Plan numbers and voice providers that cannot obtain a Service Provider Code token. The FCC is required annually to reevaluate its STIR/SHAKEN implementation extensions granted on the basis of undue hardship and, consistent with previous annual reevaluations, it has determined that the extensions remain necessary to avoid undue hardship for the providers that require such extensions.
