In response to President Biden’s announcement of student loan forgiveness and an extension of the student loan forbearance period through December 31, 2022, the FCC’s Enforcement Bureau has issued an Enforcement Advisory that reminds voice providers to mitigate illegal robocalls.  Each time loan forbearance has been extended, Americans have been inundated with student-loan related robocalls about student loans.  The Advisory details actions that the Commission has taken to identify student loan robocall originators and compel phone companies to block robocalls.  These actions include enacting permissive call blocking, mandatory blocking, robocall mitigation, and Robocall Mitigation Database removal rules that place obligations on providers to protect their networks for suspected illegal robocall traffic.
