The FCC has released a Report, that was also sent to Congress, summarizing the current progress of the Secure and Trusted Communications Networks Reimbursement Program. The FCC discussed its implementation procedures in carrying out the program and described how recipients of the program are progressing, via their filed Status Updates from October 2022.
Of note, the FCC announced that 30 Reimbursement Program recipients have, collectively, submitted 1,988 reimbursement claim requests and the FCC has approved $40,965,745 in reimbursement claims. In addition, the FCC found that recipients are experiencing four main challenges: (1) lack of funding; (2) supply chain delays; (3) labor shortages; and (4) weather-related challenges.
The FCC will issue its next progress report to Congress by July 10, 2023.
