The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, at the request of California Internet, L.P. DBA GeoLinks (GeoLinks), has proposed to modify certain of GeoLinks’ Local Multipoint Distribution Service (LMDS) licenses to substitute unassigned frequencies currently held in FCC inventory for GeoLinks’ existing geographically and spectrally separated license holdings.  The Commission has concluded that the proposed modifications will promote the public interest, convenience, and necessity by providing GeoLinks with access to more contiguous spectrum, allowing it to improve network performance and lower equipment and deployment costs.  The Commission has also found that grant of the proposed modifications will increase the utility of the LMDS band overall, by returning spectrum to the Commission for future reassignment that could result in a more valuable set of LMDS licenses in the Commission’s current inventory.
