The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) has adopted a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (NPRM) seeking comment on a new application fee schedule.  The new application fee schedule would consolidate the FCC’s application fee categories from eight separate categories to five categories (wireless licensing fees, media service fees, equipment approval fees, domestic service fees, and international service fees) and lower the total amount of application fees.  The NPRM proposes a streamlined application fee schedule for each category to better adapt to changing technologies and developments in the industry.  These proposed changes are derived from the modifications to the FCC’s statutory application fee authority under the RAY BAUM’s Act of 2018.

Comments on the NPRM will be due 30 days after its publication in the Federal Register, which has not yet occurred, and reply comments will be due 45 days after its publication in the Federal Register.
