The FCC has adopted a Report and Order amending its equipment authorization rules to further secure communications networks and supply chains from equipment posing a threat to U.S. national security. Specifically, the FCC has prohibited any future authorizations of equipment that are identified on the FCC’s Covered List.
The Commission also adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that seeks comment on potential additional revisions to the equipment authorization rules, including seeking comment on how it should handle existing equipment authorizations with covered equipment. The FNPRM also seeks comment on proposed revisions to the FCC’s competitive bidding program concerning covered equipment.
