The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) has adopted a Report and Order, not yet released, that transitions certain notices to broadcast TV stations from paper to electronic delivery, consistent with the recently adopted carriage election notice rules. Previously, cable and satellite TV providers were required to provide written notices to local TV stations before taking certain actions, such as: launching a new service in a new market; retransmitting certain stations, or deleting a broadcast station within its channel lineup. The new rules allow cable and satellite TV providers to email the covered notices to local TV stations’ online public inspection file inbox or their general email address inbox.
