The Wireline Competition Bureau has released a Public Notice issuing an administrative subpoena ordering all Providers of special access services to submit to the FCC the customer-related information sought in the special access data collection. The subpoena was issued in response to concerns raised by NCTA and USTelecom regarding federal privacy statutes that limit a service provider’s ability to provide the federal government with consumer information. The FCC notes that the consumer information Providers are required to file with the FCC under this mandatory data collection is subject to a protective order and will be protected from unauthorized disclosure.
