FCC Chairwoman Rosenworcel has introduced a Notice of Proposed Rulemaking that proposes to adopt the 2010 net neutrality rules that would return fixed and mobile broadband service to its previous status as an essential telecommunications service and thus under the FCC’s Title II purview.  This controversial NPRM would reverse the restoring internet freedom rules adopted in 2018 that has led to some states adopting their own net neutrality rules.  Chairwoman Rosenworcel believes that the proposed rules can limit the ability of broadband companies to limit consumer and business activities.  This NPRM will be considered at the FCC’s October 19 Open Meeting.
