The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau (Bureau) has released information about the Affordable Connectivity Program’s (ACP) high-cost area benefit application submission timing and process. As required by the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, the FCC created a mechanism for participating ACP providers to offer enhanced monthly discounts of up to $75 for broadband services to ACP-enrolled households in high-cost areas, upon the respective provider’s showing of particularized economic hardship. The Bureau has announced that ACP providers may begin to submit applications seeking approval to offer the high-cost area benefit on Wednesday, January 17, 2024.
