The FCC has adopted a Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking seeking comment on a limited set of issues pertaining to the 5G Fund for Rural America. Specifically, the FNPRM seeks comment on potential changes to the 5G Fund’s eligible areas, budget, metrics for accepting winning bids in the reverse auction, minimum geographic areas, compliance requirements, transition of legacy high-cost support, and certifications. The FNPRM also seeks comment on whether and, if so, how it should use the 5G Fund to support further deployment of Open Radio Access Network technologies.
