FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has announced that a draft order is circulating among the commissioners to formally extend the Mobility Fund Phase II (MF-II) challenge process deadline by 90 days. The current challenge process deadline is August 27, 2018. Pai previously promised a 90-day extension in a May 30, 2018 letter to 30 US Senators. The commissioners’ vote is expected to take place while the item is on circulation and well in advance of the September open meeting in order to beat the August deadline. The need for an extension arose when lawmakers and other parties complained that the MF-II eligibility map was inaccurate (which led to map corrections in certain cases) and also sought waivers to participate in the challenge process.
