The FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureau) seeks comment on a petition from small satellite operators (SSOs) for a stay (or delay) of the FCC’s rules adopted in its C-band order pending judicial review. Pursuant to the C-band order, the FCC will transition 280 megahertz of the 500 megahertz satellite C-band and auction it in December 2020 for wireless broadband and 5G uses. Legal challenges to the order were anticipated by the FCC. The SSOs and satellite transmission company PSSI Global Services LLC filed separate petitions for review of the C-band order with the United States Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit, which have since been consolidated and are currently pending. Comments on the petition for stay are due May 27, 2020 and reply comments by June 1, 2020.
