The FCC has set comment deadlines for seven petitions for reconsideration and/or clarification of a number of the policies and procedures the Commission adopted in the Mobility Fund Phase II Report and Order (MFII R&O). The MFII R&O aims to expand and preserve 4G LTE mobile coverage in rural America and in Tribal lands by providing $453 million in universal service support through the FCC’s Mobility Fund Phase II for a period of ten years. The Commission has determined that many of the arguments advanced in the petitions for reconsideration may be relevant to the Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) that accompanied the MFII R&O. Because comments on the FNPRM are due May 11, 2017, the Commission has found good cause to modify the customary filing timeframes for oppositions to the petitions and replies to oppositions. Accordingly, oppositions to the petitions for reconsideration are due May 16, 2017, and replies to oppositions are due May 26, 2017.
