The FCC’s Office of Engineering and Technology has conditionally approved thirteen entities to operate proposed automated frequency coordination (AFC) database systems that will manage the access to 6 GHz band spectrum and prepare the spectrum band for use of standard-power unlicensed devices.  The conditionally approved entities are: Broadcom, Google, Comsearch, Sony Group, Kyrio, Key Bridge Wireless, Nokia Innovations, Federated Wireless, Wireless Broadband Alliance, Wi-Fi Alliance (WFA), Qualcomm, Plume Design, and RED Technologies.  These entities’ proposed AFC systems still must undergo testing to verify that they operate within the FCC’s rules.  Testing protocols are still being developed.
