The FCC’s Wireline Competition Bureau has announced an updated fixed broadband minimum service standard for data usage allowance for the Lifeline program. The Lifeline new data usage allowance for fixed services will be 1,280 GB per month, effective December 1, 2022.
The mobile broadband minimum service standard will continue to be 4.5 GB per month until at least December 1, 2023. The mobile voice telephony minimum service standard will also remain the same at 1,000 minutes per month.
In addition, the Bureau announced that the budget for federal universal service support for the Lifeline program will be approximately $2.57 billion for calendar year 2023.
