The federal government will no longer use the Data Universal Numbering System (DUNS) number for entity registration in the U.S. General Services Administration’s System for Award Management (SAM), as of April 4, 2022.  A Unique Entity Identifier (UEI) will now be used and generated directly in SAM.gov.  Previously, entities had to go through the Dun & Bradstreet website to complete their SAM.gov registration.  Now entities can complete their registration directly through the SAM.gov website by requesting a UEI number. Entities currently registered in SAM.gov have already been assigned a UEI and can view it within SAM.gov.

For Universal Service Fund recipients, the FCC is working with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) to complete a full transition to the collection of UEIs and the use of SAM.gov to collect payment information from USF recipients.
