TracFone, FCC, DOJ Reach $13.4M Settlement for Lifeline Violations

TracFone has reached a $13.4 million settlement with the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) and the Department of Justice (DOJ) to settle allegations that it had signed up over 175,000 ineligible customers for the Lifeline program from 2012 to 2015.  TracFone provides wireless service to millions of low-income households nationwide under the FCC’s Lifeline program.
