FCC Launches Database for Voice Providers to Document Robocall Mitigation Efforts

The FCC has launched the Robocall Mitigation Database—to be used by voice providers to inform the FCC of their robocall mitigation efforts.  Starting September 28, 2021, phone companies are prohibited from accepting traffic from voice providers not listed on the Robocall Mitigation Database.  Voice providers file certifications of their mitigation efforts via a portal inside the Robocall Mitigation Database.  Providers that received time extensions for STIR/SHAKEN call authentication compliance obligations, “generally small companies and/or providers of non-IP-based services,” must adopt robocall mitigation programs. The FCC stated that the “database launched today will be the portal through which originating providers report on their compliance with these obligations.”
