The FCC’s Public Safety and Homeland Security Bureau (PSHSB) has released a Public Notice updating its Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP) Text-to-911 registry scheme to include real-time text (RTT). The public notice instructs PSAPs on certification and registration to request delivery of RTT from Commercial Mobile Radio Service (CMRS) providers. The Public Notice additionally announces availability of the updated Text-to-911 Registry, which will now list PSAPs “ready to receive RTT service and providing notice to CMRS providers of the date on which the PSAP became ready to receive RTT messages.”
