The Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission) has announced that the priority window for federally-recognized Tribes and Alaska Native Villages officially opened to apply for 2.5 GHz band spectrum, offering favorable coverage and capacity for 5G. This will allow Tribes to obtain this spectrum for free before any commercial auction. Any unassigned 2.5 GHz spectrum will be made available for commercial use through a spectrum auction. The priority window will close on Monday, August 3, 2020.
