FEMA Postpones Nationwide WEA/EAS Test to Wednesday, October 3rd

The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) and the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) have released a public notice announcing that the nationwide joint-test of both Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) and the Emergency Alert System (EAS), originally scheduled for Thursday, September 20, 2018, has been postponed to the back-up test date of Wednesday, October 3, 2018. The re-scheduled WEA test will commence at 2:18 p.m. EDT and the re-scheduled EAS test will commence immediately afterwards at 2:20 p.m. EDT. The test is being rescheduled due to ongoing response efforts to Hurricane Florence. The FCC and FEMA remind all Participating Commercial Mobile Service Providers and EAS Participants about their duty to participate in the joint WEA/EAS test as well as their related filing obligations.
