The FCC’s Wireline Competition and Wireless Telecommunications Bureaus (Bureaus) have partially granted an Alaska Telephone Association (ATA) Petition for Reconsideration regarding Alaska Plan map data filing obligations.  Among other things, the Bureaus will delay by one year the FCC requirement to provide data at a 7.6-meter level of accuracy, extend the March 1, 2018 Alaska Plan map data submission deadline to July 1, 2018, and permit carriers to submit “estimated” data to within 50 meters of accuracy for that filing (where data at 7.6 meters is unavailable).  The Bureau also clarifies the data collection requirement pertaining to community anchor institutions.
