President Donald Trump has announced his intent to nominate Jessica Rosenworcel to return to the Federal Communications Commission (FCC or Commission). Rosenworcel previously served as a Commissioner at the FCC from May 2012 to January 2017, during which time she was a vocal proponent of net neutrality. In May 2015, former President Barack Obama re-nominated Rosenworcel for a second five-year term, but the Senate failed to vote on her confirmation by the time she was required to vacate her seat in January 2017. If confirmed, Rosenworcel would fill the open Democratic seat on the Commission. In addition to that slot, one open Republican seat on the Commission remains to be filled.
