FCC Chairman Ajit Pai has announced two more procedural reforms to make the FCC’s processes more transparent and accountable. The agency will now release a one-page fact sheet that summarizes a proposal beginning with the release of any items for the March meeting. Second, any substantive edits made to an item between the time it is circulated with Commissioners and the FCC meeting where Commissioners will vote on an item must be made by a Commissioner rather than FCC staff. This reform is intended to allow the Commissioners to better understand the underlying purpose of such edits, and will help promote accountability. This change will be implemented immediately.
