After high demand for Alternative Connect America Cost Model (A-CAM) support created a budget shortfall, the FCC last month issued an Order and Further Notice of Proposed Rulemaking (FNPRM) seeking comment on whether to additionally increase the budget for model-based support with an associated increase in broadband deployment obligations and whether to prioritize funding offers based on greater deployment need. After the FNPRM’s publication in the Federal Register, a comment cycle has been established with comments due February 13, 2017 and reply comments due February 27, 2017.
