As part of its ongoing evaluation of unlicensed national information infrastructure (U-NII) devices to share 5 GHz spectrum with Dedicated Short Range Communications (DSRC) systems, the FCC Office of Engineering and Technology (OET) earlier this year solicited prototype U-NII-4 devices for testing and has since received several U-NII-4 and DSRC devices from five parties.  DSRC systems operate under the Intelligent Transportation Service and are used for vehicle-to-infrastructure and vehicle-to-vehicle applications. OET has commenced Phase I of its DSRC testing and will hold a DSRC Test Plan Open House on October 21, 2016 at its laboratory in Columbia, MD.  Parties that wish to attend must register by October 17, 2016.  Further details regarding Phase I of the DSRC Test Plan are available on the FCC’s website.
