Data Broker Accountability and Transparency Act Introduced in Senate

Senators Edward Markey (D-MA), Richard Blumenthal (D-CT), Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI), and Al Franken (D-MN) have introduced the Data Broker Accountability and Transparency Act (S. 668) in the U.S. Senate. The “Data Broker Accountability and Transparency Act of 2015” would require data brokers to establish procedures to ensure the accuracy of collected personal information and give consumers the right to stop data brokers from using, sharing, or selling personal information for marketing purposes.  S. 668 has been referred to the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation for consideration.
