The White House has announced a new initiative, called “Made In Rural America,” that is intended to “help rural businesses and leaders take advantage of new investment opportunities and access new customers and markets abroad.” It will be led by the White House Rural Council, with help from other federal agencies. As part of the initiative, the Rural Council and Department of Agriculture will convene an “Investing in Rural America” conference in 2014 in order to connect major investors with rural business leaders, government officials, economic development experts, and others. Participants at the conference will highlight successful infrastructure projects which will include telecommunications projects.
