The Federal Communications Commission’s Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB) has issued a Public Notice announcing that January 11, 2023 is the deadline for gateway providers to submit certifications, including robocall mitigation plans, to the Robocall Mitigation Database (Database).  A gateway provider is defined as “a U.S.-based intermediate provider that receives a call directly from a foreign originating provider or foreign intermediate provider at its U.S.-based facilities before transmitting the call downstream to another U.S.-based provider.”  47 CFR § 64.6300(d).  Importantly, all other intermediate providers and voice service providers will be prohibited from accepting traffic from gateway providers not listed in the Database beginning April 11, 2023.
