The Wireline Competition Bureau has released a Public Notice seeking comment on several voice service providers’ STIR/SHAKEN implementation verification certifications. The Bureau previously found that seven voice service providers qualified for the exemption of the STIR/SHAKEN implementation mandate.
In qualifying for such exemption, those voice service providers were required to demonstrate voluntary early implementation progress by December 30, 2020 and provide a second certification after June 30, 2021 that such provider had achieved the implementation goals to which it initially certified. In September 2021, the Bureau released filing instructions for those providers to submit their required implementation verification certification and the WCB now seeks comment on these certifications. Comments are due December 30, 2021 and replies are due January 10, 2022.
