The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC or Commission) Wireline Competition Bureau (WCB or Bureau) seeks comment on a petition filed by the National Lifeline Association (NaLA), on August 27, 2020, which requests a waiver related to changes being made to the Lifeline program. On December 1, 2020, the Lifeline program mobile broadband minimum service standard (MSS) is scheduled to increase to 11.75 GB and the amount of Lifeline support received for voice service is scheduled to decrease to $5.25 per month. Citing the difficulties faced by the COVID-19 pandemic, NaLA requests that the Commission maintain the current mobile broadband MSS at 3 GB and retain Lifeline voice support at $7.25 per month. Comments on this petition are due September 14, 2020 and reply comments are due September 21, 2020.
