The Wireless Telecommunications Bureau has granted a waiver request by the Navajo Nation in regard to its application filed in the 2.5 GHz Rural Tribal Priority Window. The Bureau determined that it was consistent with the purpose of the Tribal Window, which is to address issues with lack of access to wireless communications services in rural Tribal areas, to grant a waiver of its rules by allowing licensing of the off-reservation trust and non-Tribal lands specified in the Navajo Nation’s application. The Bureau noted that the lands in questions are areas within the Tribe’s current authority and are largely contiguous to part of the reservation.
