The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS) has delayed the final rule reclassifying the northern long-eared bat as an endangered species until March 31, 2023, to finalize conservation tools and guidance documents to avoid confusion. In response, the FCC’s Wireless Telecommunications Bureau (Bureau) has issued a public notice informing applicants that until the FWS final rule becomes effective, applicants should continue to follow the FCC’s prior guidance for protection of the northern long-eared bat.
